Robert L. Johnson
April 15, 1952 – January 22, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert L. Johnson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin, who departed this life on January 22, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on April 15, 1952, to Mary J. Nichols in Marion, South Carolina, Robert’s life was marked by love, dedication, and service to his family and community.
Robert retired from the City of Delray Beach after an incredible 33 years of service, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment. Known for his kind heart and warm smile, Robert was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Phyllis Lee-Johnson, and his eight children: Ontario D. Johnson of West Palm Beach, FL; Ebony S. Bozeman (Bobby Bozeman) of Jacksonville, FL; Maurice Davis of West Palm Beach, FL; Courtney Johnson of Lantana, FL; Ava Lee Johnson of Lake Worth, FL; Coronda Jones of Boynton Beach, FL; Karim Camara of Lake Worth FL, and Ayanna Camara of Washington DC.
Robert was a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren, with one more on the way, and a soon-to-arrive great-grandchild. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Julian Robert Johnson, Christian Robert Johnson, Briana S. Davis, Dallas Robert Lee Johnson, Tereianna Nicole Johnson, Amaria Courtasia Johnson, Cheridan Myrick, Amos Griffin III, Aurice Davis, Elana Fairley, Mariah Kendalynn Davis , Jazlyn Fairley, Bobby Bozeman Jr., Destinee Sapone, and Jayda Cooper.
He is also survived by his three brothers, Willie Johnson Sr. of Boynton Beach, FL, Randolph Nichols of Delray Beach, FL, and Charles Ray Nichols of Miami FL; two sisters, Mary Billings of Marietta, NC, and Doris Johnson of Lumberton, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Robert was preceded in death by his two sisters, Minnie Ruth Cross and Linda Johnson, and his brother, Edward R. Johnson.
A compassionate and loving man, Robert’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. His warm laughter, wise words, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in the coming days.
